Job ResponsibilitiesOperates 5 yard standard dump truck for hauling materials such as asphalt, dirt, pipe, construction materials, and debris. Operates dump truck with snow plow and sand spreader or brine applicator during snow/ice operations. Operates small equipment such as brush chipper, roller, self contained sweeper tractor with broom, tractor with mower in conjunction with highway and bridge maintenance operations. Performs manual labor in various maintenance operations such as clearing right-of-ways, tree removal, cleaning out drainage ditches, repair of shoulders of roadway, patch potholes, and paving drives. Assists with the placement of traffic control devices to properly set up maintenance work zones. Serves as a flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance work zones. Operates medium equipment such as tandem dump trucks, large roller, and skid steer in various maintenance operations. Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum and Additional RequirementsThere are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position. The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards.
